Elizabeth was the daughter of the King of Hungary in the early 13th century. Because of her royal status, she was often chastised for her love of the poor and generous spirit. One day, while hiding bread beneath her cloak, Elizabeth was confronted. When she opened the cloak, the person saw a vision of roses - not the bread - and both continued on their way! Sadly, Elizabeth lost her husband during the crusades. She is honored as the patron saint of widows.
